In 2025, Skytrail strengthened its commitment to environmental restoration through its partnership with Veritree, focusing on tangible results rather than lofty promises. This year’s progress reflects a clear, data-driven approach to ecosystem recovery and climate resilience.
Restoring coastal ecosystems in Kenya – progress you can see
Skytrail’s efforts in Kenya target mangrove ecosystems, critical habitats that stabilise coastlines, support biodiversity, and store carbon. To date, 84,000 trees have been ordered, with 24,000 already planted in regions such as Kwale and Kilifi. These efforts have restored 8.4 hectares of land, creating a foundation for long-term ecological health.
Growth progress at sites like Mteza Creek are reported, and overall project highlights are also tracked, the latest being a 59,090-tree planting session in Kwale on 7 October 2025.
One of the most powerful aspects of Skytrail’s partnership with Veritree is transparency. Through the Impact Hub dashboard, Skytrail can monitor real-time updates on tree orders, planting sessions, and carbon sequestration projections.

Impact in numbers
- CO₂ sequestration: Projected 20,832 tonnes by 2050, thanks to the carbon-storing power of mangroves.
- Biodiversity gains: Species monitoring in Kwale and Kilifi shows occurrences of birds such as the Common Buzzard, Pied Kingfisher, and Eurasian Curlew (Near Threatened), indicating improving habitat conditions.
- Community engagement: Local planting teams are central to these efforts, ensuring restoration benefits both ecosystems and livelihoods.

Next Phase: Expanding into Tanzania
Skytrail’s impact journey doesn’t stop at Kenya. The next phase focuses on Tanzania, where mangrove ecosystems face similar threats from deforestation and climate change. This expansion will replicate the proven model from Kenya, combining verified planting, transparent reporting, and community partnerships, to scale restoration and deliver measurable outcomes.
“For us, it’s really important as a reputable business not to get labelled as greenwashing. We’re realistic about what we can achieve from a small office in Horsham, UK. That’s where Veritree helps. It’s a platform that enables businesses like ours to make a meaningful impact through the commitment of tree orders and the ongoing interest to keep doing more.” – Neil Colney, Managing Director of Skytrail
